I believe that it's a sad commentary indeed that modern-day pies are, more often than not, baked without Pie Birds. A staple of pie baking since the Victorian Era, Pie Birds vent the steam from baking pies while supporting the center of the top crust from collapsing. Usually the bird will breath out steam as the heat of the filling rises, but occasionally, given the right conditions, it will whistle -how old-timey awesome is that!!!
This Pie Bird is ceramic and stands 5" tall. It is in Very Nice condition with its only signs of wear being some very slight chipping at its arched base (this is however impossible to see unless you turn him upside down, and it will go unseen if displayed or immersed in yummy pie filling)
